Gilberto Lopes is a thoracic oncologist who was born and started his career in Brazil. Then he studied in the USA, practised in Singapore and today he is back consulting and conducting research in Miami. He has seen cancer care in countries around the world and has a lot to say about the differences in their healthcare systems.
In this episode of There’s Chemo between us, we talk to Gilbert about how health insurance works in the USA, why the money americans spend on treatment is their contribution to global oncology, and how patient communication differs between Singapore and Brazil.
